Meet Our Pastors

Dwight Chapel is blessed to have these brothers shepherding our church.

Emmanuel Haqq
Senior Pastor

Pastor Haqq, who has a Ph.D. in physics, came to this area to teach and do research in physics at the University of Massachusetts. He became part of planting a church body at Dwight Chapel and, after a period of training, was ordained by the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (the "4-C's"). He has served as pastor for the past 25 years. Along with teaching and preaching at Dwight, he has preached and shared his faith as a pastor and a physicist both here and abroad. Having been raised in a land where Christians were a small minority, and coming from a non-Christian family background, he has a special appreciation for proclaiming the unique glory of Jesus Christ. He and his wife Jill have 4 children and make their home in Belchertown.

Robert Hewes
Assistant Pastor of Church Ministries

Pastor Robert is an associate professor at Springfield College. He holds a doctoral degree in counseling from Southern Illinois University. His research interests display his heart for the hurting and broken as he studies the needs of those often overlooked by society, and equips care givers to offer effective help. Robert's energy and faith are evident whether he is caring for his family, interacting with his students, or pursuing his ministry. Pastor Robert is married to Deborah. They have four children and live in Three Rivers. Robert has been assistant pastor at Dwight Chapel since 2004, equipping and encouraging people in their various ministries at the church.

Tim Smith
Assistant Pastor of Outreach

Tim Smith was born and raised in central Mass and came to faith while completing his studies in engineering at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. He worked as an engineer for various international corporations, during which he spent 7 years in the Middle East. In addition to his ministry, he now manages a business. Since coming to faith in Christ, Tim has always enjoyed investing in the work of Christ's Church. He has enjoyed sharing God's word and assisting in music ministries, playing lead guitar for over 20 years both in the US and abroad. Tim lives in Belchertown with his wife, Kristie, and 5 growing children. Although associated with Dwight Chapel since his university days, he formally joined the Dwight Chapel staff as Pastor of Outreach in 2004.
