Home > Children's Ministries Children's Ministries at Dwight Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14) Dwight Chapel believes in the importance of investing in our children and teaching them about Christ. Therefore, many of our programs and resources focus around these precious ones. Read below to learn more about our children's ministries. Sunday SchoolSunday School is offered each week throughout the year except during special services and events (e.g., Easter, church breakfast). There are currently five Sunday School classes for children younger than 18. The goals of our Sunday School classes are to bring children to an assurance of their salvation in Christ; to grow young believers in their knowledge of the Word and trust in the Lord; and to reach out and welcome children new to church. Children’s ChurchChildren’s Church is provided each Sunday during the message for all children 4 years-of-age through the 3rd grade. Children are offered a time to sing, pray, and learn about the teachings of Jesus. The goal of the Children’s Church is to teach our children to enjoy Christ reverently and wholeheartedly in worship by providing them with age-appropriate worship. NurseryA nursery is provided for all children under 2. Infants will have a separate nursery should the number of infants in the nursery exceed five on any given Sunday. The goal for the nursery is to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for our children and visitors. Pioneer ClubsPioneer Clubs is a Christian ministry that’s entirely driven by a passion to evangelize and disciple today’s children. Pioneer Clubs provides programs for churches to sponsor a weekly club ministry for young people from age two through sixth grade. Pioneer Clubs helps kids have fun, learn new skills, build relationships, study the Bible, and ultimately, learn to live for Christ in every aspect of life. Pioneer Clubs serves over 3,700 churches and over 140,000 children throughout North America. At Dwight Chapel, Pioneer Clubs is held Wednesday evenings at the church September thru May. The goal of the Clubs program is to use games, crafts, lessons, and songs to help children build and enjoy Christian fellowship, build spiritual relationships with adults in the church, and learn the Word. Vacation Bible School—A.D. 29VBS—A.D. 29 is an all-church event offered every-other-year during July or August. The children and adult volunteers all become actors in a “drama” as the church is transformed into a 1st century village in Israel; each day a dramatic event from the life and teachings of Christ unfolds in the village. The goal for VBS is to provide an opportunity for Christian education, outreach and evangelism. (Other VBS programs are usually offered during the off-years of “VBS—A.D. 29”) Wee OnesOur Wee Ones program serves children ages 2-4. The children have a Sunday School class at 9:45 and then the Wee Ones programs continues at 10:45 through the second service. The goals of our Wee Ones program are to teach children about the Word of God and salvation in Christ. There are crafts, games, bible lessons, stories, and songs to help teach the children biblical truths revealed in God’s Word. |
