What We Believe

We believe that God, who created heaven and earth, revealed His glory in creation and spoke through the prophets of the Old Testament. But 2000 years ago, in a lavish display of grace, He revealed Himself fully and decisively in the person of Jesus Christ, who was and is God in person.

Dwight Chapel is a congregation of people who are committed to enjoying the glory of God revealed in Christ Jesus. We are not speculating about a God who cannot be known, or yearning after a God who will not be known. But we believe that "in these last days (God) has spoken to us by a Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of His nature, upholding the universe by His word of power." (Hebrews 1: 2-3)

• that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and authoritative in all that it affirms
• that the Lord our God is one, existing eternally in three persons, the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit.
• that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became man through the virgin birth, yet without ceasing to be God; He died voluntarily on the cross to make an atoning payment for the sins of His people; He then rose bodily, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father, the center of praise and worship.
• that the Church is the Body of Christ, composed of those who have been joined to Christ by faith; members of the Church are drawn by the Holy Spirit into local congregations of believers who worship regularly together because they love their Lord, and serve and pray for one another because they love one another.
